Night of the Living Dead (1968) is a milestone of zombie horor movies. It was directed by George A. Romero, the “Godfather of all Zombies”. For zombie fans this is definitely a must see.
Plot: Few survivors are trapped in a countryhouse trying to survive the zombie apocalypse.

If you don’t like black and white films, check out the Night of the Living Dead remake from 1990.

From the Shaun of the Dead DVD Commentary:

“I remember saying to Bill, I said ‘It’s like Clint Eastwood on Benylin.’ He swaggers in like a gunfighter who’s had too much Night Nurse.” Edgar Wright (dir.)

Excellent scene from The Return of Living Dead (1985). Talking zombies that can use a radio give them a whole new edge since it denotes intelligent brain eating.

The Horde

The Horde, a zombie film from French directors Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, “An end of the world battle between gangsters, cops and zombies.”

Set in a zombie infested Paris, angry cops are seeking revenge against Nigerian gangsters who have killed one of their colleagues. The cops decide to raid a deserted tower block in an apparent suicide mission and are immediately in over their heads with the gangsters. As Paris crumbles around them both groups realise that they have to escape the tower block that has attracted a lot of unwanted zombie attention. Brutal, bloody, trigger happy, this zombie movie doesn’t bother to explain itself and is pretty entertaining. Featuring unlimited ammo and a complete disregard for shooting zombies in the head (widely accepted as the main method of removing the zombie threat) The Horde has great characters, a bit of a predictable script, and some excellent visual effects and fight scenes.

World War Z – new trailer

The new trailer for zombie epic World War Z is here!

United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Despite this movie having been completely messed around by Hollywood execs including: months of zombie redesigns until settling on ridiculous CGI running zombies, a reshoot of the ending so that it’s different from the book, a recent reshoot of a key scene changing the origin of the outbreak from China to another country in order to avoid offending the Chinese market and maintaining (hopefully) strong sales in China, Brad Pitt as Producer no longer being on speaking terms with the Director, and the whole thing being massively late and over budget, I am STILL looking forward to watching this!

Super 8 – The Case

Super8 is a monster movie from 2012, directed by JJ Abrams, produced by Steven Spielberg, and is about a group of kids who are caught up in a military experiment gone wrong. During the film the kids are trying to make a zombie movie for a competition, and I’d say that this short film is in fact better than the movie itself! Check it out.

The Night Evelyn came out of the grave (Phoenix Pictures, Emilio Miraglia, 1971)

The film tells the story of Alan (Anthony Steffen), a man whose obsession with his disloyal dead wife, Evelyn, causes him to prey upon sexy redheads, including Susan (Erika Blanc), who in a striptease sequence strips inside a coffin. When Alan finally overcomes his weakness and marries Gladys (Marina Malfatti), she tortures him in a particularly cruel way.

This is the trailer to the 2013 remake of the zombie cult classic movie Evil Dead (1981). Be warned, this trailer is brutally bloody and goes quite a long way to prove to its audience that this remake is going to be a lot more gory and extreme than its predecessor.

Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror.
